Ok, I'll try to get Q's answered tomorrow (I just know I confused the process somehow) but the most important part is the inserting of a rigid tool of some kind while tightening. Makes a huge difference and helps keep the knot from folding on itself during the tightening phase. After removing the skewer you could always slip a toothpick or something similar in size and snip the ends on either side of the toggle and leave the rest buried in there as a kind of spine for the knot. Pinch the ends a bit to conceal the 'rod' if thats the way you go.
Now it's bathtime for the boys.... good luck.
Kids have to think that you care before they'll care what you think!!
